Blog Commercial

I had a good time creating this commercial. Instead of using other artists songs, I decided to use/ create a couple instrumentals of my own. Yep, the music you’re hearing is by yours truly. I was happy that I could finally use these tracks for something. They had been sitting on my hard drive collecting dust. I had no idea what to do with them and I’m glad this assignment allowed me to finally utilize them. The cross fading from one track to another isn’t my best work but I think it worked out okay since the tracks have different tempos. Adjusting the levels was fun to do around my voice. Although I was reading from a text, it took me a few takes to get the narrative down.:P

I have worked with garageband in the past and have since used Logic Pro. The second track in the commercial was created using Reason which is another music production software title. The tentative titles for tracks are called “Rivet” and “Motronic”. I may never touch these tracks again, but I am happy that they were put to use. The entire process took about an hour from recording the voice over, editing the tracks to fit the time frame, and the over all mastering the commercial.

This was pretty fun to work Β on! I hope you enjoy it and feedback is definitely welcomed!

My Header

My header!
The process to create this header was fairly simple. The picture I selected is of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia. This picture was taken from a trip I took with my girlfriend to Philly during the Spring of 2012. We wanted to really discover South Street. We also visited some school for potential Graduate Schools. Towards the end of the day we took a duck tour :P. The duck tour took us very near to the Bridge and it was a perfect opportunity for a snapshot. The funny thing was that the boat got stuck and I was able to get a great shot. Looking at the bridge felt profound in a way. I took the photo into iPhoto using my mac and I was able to add filters and play with the saturation and gradient. My style of editing is over saturating pictures of environments. I like to see the objects pop and be vivid. I struggled with getting the essence of the photo with the restrictions of dimensions. Finally I was able to capture it and I am very happy with the header. It looks different and speaks to my personality. I enjoy editing the photos of my vacation and trips and this picture really stood out to me. To be honest I think it looks pretty cool and it’s my original work. That’s what’s important to me.

Standalone Star Wars films in the near future?

20130207-113747.jpg
According to Rollin Bishop at Geekosystem, there will be standalone Star Wars films along with the anticipated Star Wars Episode VII, VIII, & IX films. The “confirmed” standalone films would be of a Young Han Solo film and a Boba Fett film. I’m glad we’re getting these films, but I’m more excited to see what the new trilogy has to offer instead of these return to origin stories. But if I had it my way I’d want a standalone Ewok film πŸ˜›

First Blog Post (with a little shot of Inspiring Intellectual Cinematic Espresso at the end…)

I’ve had some experience in creating a blog using word press at work as a means for internal communication. This time around it was a little different ,because as much as we say we don’t care what this blog looks like or what it contains…..we actually do care. I can’t speak for everyone, but I found myself mulling over what I would call my blog. I tried being clever or funny, but eventually I ended up with the the most simple name “JonoFTW”. It may not really clue in to what the blog is about, but I like it.

Picking the theme was also kinda difficult. Although in the grand scheme of things the theme may not be the make-it-or-break-it aspect of the blog, it is still important to the blogger. I kind of thought about it in the sense of one of those days when you leave your house not “caring” about what you wear, so you head out the door with sweat pants and a hoodie. The thing about this is, even though you don’t “care” about what you wear, you still care what it looks like and how it coordinates; no matter how much of a bum you may appear to be, the color of your sweats and your North Face “GOTTA BE ON POINT!”

I plan to post and discuss my interests on this blog which range from music, technology, futurist perspectives, memes, and anything else that I may find cool or entertaining. This may end up as my annotated collection of bookmarks and “inspiring” posts πŸ˜›
